Apple launches replacement for the iPod mini
Apple have replaced the iPod mini with the new iPod nano. The iPod nano comes in two storage sizes, 2GB (500 songs) and 4GB (1000 songs), and both of these models are available in two colours, the traditional iPod white, and black.
The weight & size of the new iPod nano is one of the key advantages; the nano weights only 1.35 ounces and is 3.5 x 1.6 x 0.27 inches. This makes the iPod nano about the same thickness as a pencil!
The stated battery life is 14 hours, and the nano can sync and display digital photos, a feature which was not available with the iPod mini. The key aspect which allows Apple to add this feature is the new colour display. The 1.5in display brings colour screens to every iPod in the current lineup (the Shuffle has no display).

The iPod nano is available form retail stores and the Irish Apple Store. The current prices are as follows:
iPod nano 2GB: 209 euro [go to Irish Apple Store]
iPod nano 4GB: 259 euro [go to Irish Apple Store]

Apple have also teamed up with Motorola and US carrier, Cingular, to launch the first iTunes enabled mobile phone. This is currently unavailable in Ireland, but we will bring you news once this changes. There are rumours that O2 may carry the iTunes phone in Europe.
