New iPod Hi-Fi released by Apple...

Designed to integrate your iPod into your home entertainment system...

Apple have released an iPod speaker system called the iPod Hi-Fi. It allows you to integrate your iPod into your home audio system.

The iPod Hi-Fi is about 17 inches wide, 7" high and 7" deep. You can run it from a mains socket or using 6 batteries. Apple state that the Hi-Fi is portable, but due to its size it is probably more suited to a living room table.
On the back of the Hi-Fi you can connect other audio devices such as a discman or other stereo equipment. It also comes with an Apple Remote, te same as the remote controls shipping with new Macs.
The system is built around the iPod, and you can place an iPod into the stand on the top of the device. Apple include 10 universal dock brackets to suit any iPod with a dock connector.
One other bonus is the ability to connect a Hi-Fi to an Airport Express wireless network. This allows a user to stream music from iTunes on a Mac to an Airport Express base station, and then on through the iPod Hi-Fi speakers. This simply requires a cable connecting the Hi-Fi to the Airport Express audio socket. More technical information is available from Apple's Hi-Fi pages.
The Hi-Fi is available from Apple and other retailers for 379 euro (inc. VAT).
