To Check Your Mac



**Always check and update your backups first, before you run a Disk Utility scan**

1/ open the Disk Utility program on your Mac
Macintosh HD -> Applications -> Utilities

2/ click on “Macintosh HD” in the sidebar of the Disk Utility window:

3/ click the “First Aid” button at the top (or click on the “Verify Disk” button on older Macs)
Now wait for the scan to complete- this can take a few minutes.

4/ after the scan, you will have one of two results:
- a green message telling you that the scan is complete- GOOD
- a message that your Mac has errors and needs to be repaired- BAD
